What is SmartText?
SmartText is the plug-in of contextual advertising that has been created for pages with a big or medium amount of text. It goes ideally with news, mathematical forums and so on.
SmartText finds keywords in the context of page and associates them with advertising information. These keywords are highlighted with precise color and underlined, and if you hover mouse cursor over such keyword you will see a pop-up window with advertising information. Visitor can click on these words and after click he will be taken to advertiser's site and also he will get some money for affiliate who has placed SmartText on the page.
How can you use SmartText?
- Hover mouse cursor over highlighted keyword to show pop-up window which contains advertising information.
- For more information click on highlighted keyword or pop-up window for redirecting to advertiser's site. If you are not interested in poping-up window info, you can just ignore it and continue reading content of page.
How does Smart Text works?
- System administrator creates list of words which will be keywords for Smart Text. ("Admin Area" -> "Plug-Ins" -> "Manage SmartText List").
- Affiliate goes to accounts area and if he is interested in Smart Text Feed he tunes the view of keywords and pop-up windows and adds generated Java Script to his web page.
- Surfer visits page where affiliate has built Java Script in and script starts its work.
- Script uploads content of the page to server, clears it from HTML tags, separates it into keywords and leaves only keywords which have been added by administrator.
- The script starts XML search in inner database and on other servers, then it chooses a result with maximum bid.
- Keywords which were found are highlighted with needed color and underlined.
- When surfer clicks on keyword, he is redirected to advertiser's site, and script brings affiliate money and takes this amount from advertiser.
SmartText has options customizable by admin and affiliate. Admin specifies words which are allowed for search. Affiliate is able to customize the look and feel of highlighted words and pop-up tips.
