Adult Content Filter Plug-in

Orbit Search’s Adult Content Filter Plug-in prohibits users from opening web pages containing words from an administrator generated black-list and bans access to websites with content deemed inappropriate by the administrator.

Administrators manage search filter settings using the administrative control panel section Search → URL & World filter. In this section, the administrator can adjust search filters for four parameters: keyword, title, description, url. All keywords entered by users in their search queries are checked against a list of administrator defined restricted words before the search process begins. If a keyword entered into the search field is on the black-list, that user will see a notification message informing them the search request is unavailable. Title, Description and URLs are checked after the data has been retrieved by the search engine. If the filter finds inappropriate content in a websites title, description or URL; those restricted URLs will be deleted from the list of search results displayed to the user.
Administrators manage black-listed keywords in the administrative control panel section Search → URL & World filter. In this section, the administrator can enter new keywords, delete keywords and upload lists of restricted keywords.
Using the administrative control panel section Search → URL & World filter, administrators can define and manage a black-list of URLs. In this section, the administrator can enter a new URL, delete URLs, and upload lists of restricted URLs.
When a user attempts to enter a restricted web site or conduct a search on a word from the administrator defined black-list, the Adult Content Filter will override the search option and inform that user their search request is unavailable.

Once the Adult Content Filter Plug-in is integrated into your system, the administrator may deny users access to various types of inappropriate content. For example, if a user enters a keyword from the black-list they will not see search results for that keyword. Instead, the search engine returns a notification message that the search request is unavailable due to the inappropriate nature of the keyword/content.
