Local Search Plug-in
Summary
The Local Search plug-in allows you to search the Internet for businesses near a specified location: city, state, zip. It returns a list of establishments in proximity to a given location.
How does it work?
For example, if you want to find a pub in the New York city, in the first text field you have to type 'pub' and in the second field you can write - 'New York'. Queries return data for each business, including address, phone, along with map to display the location on it. User can “move” the map, it is possible with a help of the mouse or special buttons as a compass. To see on the map more detailed information, the map can be zoomed in and zoomed out, using the special buttons. If you move your mouse above the listing you need, a special pop-up menu appears on the map in the place where the address of this listing refers to.
Admin Area Features
There are the possibilities for administrator of the system to establish an amount of listings on the result search page, and also to change URL.
URL creation:
- appid -> The application ID (to get your own ID from Yahoo use this link: Get your own ID from Yahoo).
- results -> The number of results to return.
- start -> The starting result position to return (1-based).
- location -> This free field lets users enter any of the following:
- * city, state
- * city, state, zip
- * zip
- * street, city, state
- * street, city, state, zip
- * street, zip
